Piyush Ghoyal in the US expresses "sympathy" for Rahul Ahmed

Piyush Goyal, the Union Minister, took aim at Rahul Gandhi on Friday for his remarks about the manufacturing sector. He said, "I can only understand the lack of understanding of the manufacturing story as I do not know what job losses he's referring to."

The minister stated that he was on foreign soil, and does not like to bring domestic politics into other lands. He added that Rahul Gandhi has the right to denigrate his own country.

Piyush Goyal who is currently in Washington DC has stressed that India as a whole is united in its effort to improve the well-being of its citizens, and is working towards becoming a prosperous nation in 2047.

"We will work together to improve the quality of life for the Indian people in the next few years." Piyush said that some people, who may be responsible for the increasing influence of China in the Indian economy, continue to praise and defend China.

The Minister pointed out that China is now regarded by the international community as an opaque and non-transparent economy, known for its dumping of goods.

He said that the United States too has expressed concern over security threats from Chinese products and is imposing restrictive measures.

The Minister of the Union also brought to light the large trade deficit India had with China. This grew from $1.8 billion to $43 billion within a decade. He called it a shame that India let Chinese products flood its market, damaging domestic manufacturing and deterring investors.

He also spoke about India being forced to join the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, saying that it would have led a free-trade agreement with China.

Goyal also mentioned that India had signed a MoU with the US on critical minerals in order to keep supply chain open and encourage collaboration between India's Ministry of Mines, and the US Government.

He said: "During my 4-day visit to the US we signed the MoU for critical minerals in order to ensure that supply chains remain open, and to encourage collaboration between India's Ministry of Mines (Ministry of Mines) and the US Government."
